Notes:
Slugging LF Carlos Lee, acquired from the White Sox in the trade for Scott Podsednik, is the key to improving an offense that ranked at or near the bottom in most categories last year. If the hitters uphold their end, the Brewers appear to have a solid pitching staff backing up ace Ben Sheets. Geoff Jenkins, who moves from left to right field to accommodate Lee, and 1B Lyle Overbay are other key offensive players. The other returning starter is 2B Junior Spivey. C Damian Miller, signed as a free agent, and rookie SS J.J. Hardy also are set to start. |
