Miikka Kiprusoff was a Hart Trophy finalist for good reason. As good as Calgary's defensemen were, their success can be attributed to goaltend-ing. Kiprusoff led the league in goals-against average and shutouts on a division champ that finished 28th in league scoring.
Robyn Regehr is a cornerstone defensive stalwart, but he posted career-highs in goals (six), assists (20) and points (26). Playing more than 23 minutes per game, Regehr is the workhorse every team desperately wants to have.
