Opened in 1996, Busch Stadium was built as part of a revitalization effort in downtown St. Louis. The ball park saw rennovations to include a family pavillion, a new sound system, and a grass playing field to replace astroturf in 1995. The stadium seats

From Illinois, travel west across the Poplar Street Bridge (I-55-64-70 & U.S. 40) to the Busch Stadium exit. For points within Missouri, take I-55 north, I-64/U.S. 40 east, I-70 east or I-44 east to the 11th Street (Busch Stadium) exit in downtown. |

Notes:
The Cards had to replace free agent SS Edgar Renteria, C Mike Matheny and 2B Tony Womack, but they'll defend the NL Central with a team that has few questions. The projected lineup includes new SS David Eckstein, RF Larry Walker, 1B Albert Pujols, 3B Scott Rolen, CF Jim Edmonds, LF Reggie Sanders, new 2B Mark Grudzielanek and young C Yadier Molina. The rotation got the No. 1 starter it needed with the trade for Mark Mulder from Oakland. RHP Chris Carpenter (nerve problem) is healthy, and RHPs Jason Marquis, Jeff Suppan and Matt Morris round out the rotation. RH closer Jason Isringhausen anchors the bullpen. |
