Head Coach: Brad Childress (Regular-season 05 record: 9-7) Offensive Coordinator Steve Loney Defensive Coordinator: led Cottrell
With firing of Mike Tice and the scandals facing him was time to get a new head coach. Trading Culpepper to Dolphins and making Brad Johnson staring quarter back for vikings. Alot of rebuilding has went into this team fixing the problems in offense and defense postions. Taking over Head Coach will be Brad Childress who was the Offensive Coordinator for the Philadelphia eagles who went to the super bowl 2004 with four apperance in the nfc championship games in a row. Brad Childress has high expectations for what he considers a playoff contender in a division that, on paper, could be as evenly matched as any. The defense has the talent and potential to be dominant, but there are many questions about the potency of the offense.
Steve Hutchinson, G from Seattle, Ben Leber, LB San Diego. Chester Taylor, RB Baltimore. Tony Richardson, FB Kansas City. Tank Williams S Tennessee. Alot players have left Minnesota with new faces and veterans coming to help replace their positions will be a different team this season.
2006 Team Draft Notes: The Minnesota Vikings are looking for better times in 2006, and they took another step toward making that happen by selecting Iowa linebacker Chad Greenway with the No. 17 pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. Greenway is a tough, instinctive linebacker who should be able to help the Vikings quickly. They had a three picks in Round 2 -- Texas defensive back Cedric Griffin (No. 48), who can play cornerback or safety, New Mexico's Ryan Cook (No. 51), who played center in college but might be better suited for offensive tackle in the NFL, and Alabama State QB Tarvaris Jackson. The Vikings had two second-day picks -- Purdue DE Ray Edwards (fourth round) and Georgia FS Greg Blue (fifth round).
WR Koren Robinson once was considered the second coming of Randy Moss. That ship sailed, but Robinson has the talent to serve as a No. 1-type receiver in a West Coast offense if he concentrates on football. A focused Robinson, because of his size and speed, makes Brad Johnson's life easier. Robinson is very fluid, can sink and sprint, and has the soft hands to catch passes he probably should not. He's not as sure-handed as he should be, though, and his maturity, poise and work ethic have held him back in the past.
